You Are Cordially Invited to My Annual Online Izannah Walker Birthday Celebration September 25th – October 1st, 2019

Happy 202nd Birthday Izannah Walker!
Please come help us celebrate Izannah Walker’s 202nd birthday, September 25th – October 1st, here on http://www.izannahwalker.com

I’ve been working away here in my studios, preparing for one of my favorite times of the year, my annual Izannah Walker birthday celebration. It is always a special event here in the doll’s house, as the dolls and I make time to simply play and enjoy the very special dolls that Izannah Walker created.

My Izannah birthday celebration changes a bit from year to year, but always features my collection of antique Izannah Walker dolls, plus some of the dolls I reproduce from her originals.

This year there will be a bit of make believe, a scoop of education, a cupful of beautiful photos, and a pound of fun, all stirred up with a pinch of magic! … oh yes, and cake, lots and lots of cake! ❤  Introductions to some of the new dolls I’m making, just for this celebration, will also be sprinkled in throughout the week, just like decorations on top of a birthday cake ❤

So please come visit everyday next week as the dolls and I share our birthday party with you!

Getting the Gardens Ready for the Party ~ Happy 201st Birthday Izannah Part 2

The dolls have been very busy out in the gardens for the past few months. They are hoping that the rain will hold off long enough for them to enjoy one last garden party with all the remaining summer flowers & produce from the gardens….

Isabeau in the potting shed
Isabeau has been out in the doll’s potting shed… The seeds she started have grown into sturdy little plants that will soon be ready to go out into the garden… hollyhocks & thyme ❤
here is the lavender
“Isabeau here is the lavender you asked for.” “Thank you Isane. It smells wonderful!”

The dolls share their potting shed with the bees, who are happy to provide the little painted cloth girls all the honey they need to sweeten their tea, in return for the all the flowers that the dolls have planted around their skep.

more ?
“Do you think we should add more lavender to the honey?”

never too much
“you can never have too much lavender…”

Gardening is hard work for little dolls…

Oops….

oh dear...

Would you like to take a garden tour while we wait for the party to start at 4:30 pm Eastern Time?

Good Morning! ~ Happy 201st Birthday Izannah Part 1

Josephine come look!
“Josephine come look!”

“Josephine come look! Do you think it is going to keep raining?” cried Izzybelle. “What will we do if it doesn’t stop before the party?”

Wake up sleepy heads
“Wake up sleepy heads!” “Breakfast is ready!” “Isane baked cinnamon rolls and muffins…”
Izzybelle ...
“Izzybelle stop looking out the window and come eat before the rolls get cold.”

I’m so pleased that you’ve come by to join us today as my dolls and I celebrate doll maker Izannah Walker’s 201st birthday ❤  It is quite an occasion here in my studios and in the doll’s house.  We consider Izannah’s birthday to be an annual holiday, on par with the 4th of July, Labor Day, Halloween and Thanksgiving! The dolls all look forward to it with great anticipation.

I started this blog in January of 2009, every September 25th since then the dolls and I have shared our annual birthday party here with you ❤ We sincerely hope you will enjoy this year’s festivities! You are most welcome to come back throughout the day as we peek in on the doll’s party preparations.  Watch them laugh and  play at their party in honor of the remarkable woman who has given countless children, and doll lovers, great happiness with her remarkable dolls ❤ ❤ ❤

If you’d like to look back at some of those previous birthday posts you may use the “search” box or “archives” search by month.  Here is a sampling of some of them… I’m not listing them ALL because there were often multiple posts for each birthday party. https://izannahwalker.com/2010/09/25/happy-birthday-izannah-walker/  https://izannahwalker.com/2011/09/25/happy-194th-birthday-izannah/ , https://izannahwalker.com/2012/09/20/izannah-walker-birthday-sale/https://izannahwalker.com/2013/09/25/happy-196th-birthday-izannah-my-celebration-sale-starts-now/ .  There are 4 posts for 2014, this is one of them https://izannahwalker.com/2014/09/25/a-birthday-picnic-happy-birthday-izannah/  .  Nine birthday posts in 2015!!! This is the last one for that year –  https://izannahwalker.com/2015/09/27/happy-198th-birthday-izannah-walker-part-9-in-which-we-come-to-the-end-of-our-story-say-farewell/  .  Seven birthday posts in 2016 –  🙂 https://izannahwalker.com/2016/09/25/happy-199th-birthday-izannah-walker-part-4-blow-out-the-candles/  . Last year, in 2017, there were also 7 birthday posts, many with videos –  https://izannahwalker.com/2017/09/25/happy-200th-birthday-izannah-walker-part-6-the-ice-cream-has-been-eaten-the-presents-have-been-opened-and-we-have-come-to-the-end-of-a-perfect-day/ .  I hope you enjoy looking back at these and other posts here at my Izannah Walker Journal!

The answers to such burning questions as ~ “will the rain stop in time for the garden party” ~ “will Izzybelle find her misplaced shoe and actually come to the party wearing it?” ~ and most importantly “what kind of cake will there be???” will all be revealed throughout the day today. For those of you wondering what new reproduction dolls I’ll be unveiling for sale, the answer to that will also be forthcoming 🙂

Happy 199th Birthday Izannah Walker – Part 6 – Sweet Dreams

We’ve come to the end of our day.  My dolls and I hope you have enjoyed joining in our celebration of Izannah Walker’s birthday.  They’ve had a very active day with all of their friends.  Now all the dolls are getting sleepy and ready for bed…  Isabeau wasn’t quite sure where everyone was going to sleep tonight.  Since Cloe was such a big help this morning, she offered to rearrange the beds, so that there was a place for all of the dolls.

Even after Cloe moved all of the beds around, Isabeau still wasn’t sure that there was room for everyone…  “maybe we should have gone up to the attic to get Izzybelle’s little old bed” she fretted.

The Annas overheard her and offered to sleep in the kitchen on a pallet… I think I heard them whispering something about a midnight snack…

img_7623

and now as the sun goes down it is time to kiss all the dolls good night, tell them to sleep tight and dream of tomorrow…

Even More Izannahs…

Just a sneak peek for Marti of her own little Anna.  I’ll post more photos of her in the next day or two and then she will be off to her new home…

Happy 199th Birthday Izannah Walker – Part 4 – Blow Out the Candles!

img_7454
“Hannah, you and Ismay made a wonderful cake! It’s beautiful!” “Just in time, I hear all of our friends arriving.” “Eliza Jane, you and Ismay can go on up to the parlor. I’ll take off my apron and bring the cake up.”
img_7460
“Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Izannah…”
img_7465
“Make a wish!”

You may enlarge the photos and see the entire image by clicking on individual photographs in the montage.

The recipe for this year’s cake came from American Cake by Anne Byrn.
img_7541
Ismay, Zola and Hannah made an Appalachian Apple Stack Cake, with moist buttermilk layers and spiced apple filling. The story, which I am very fond of, goes like this; each family invited to a wedding would bring one layer of cake, all of the layers were stacked together to form the wedding cake. I’ve also heard this cake called a prairie wedding cake and have seen reference to each family bringing a different flavored cake layer. ❤

At 7:00 p.m. I have a few new dolls who would like to make your acquaintance.  I hope you will be able to come back to meet them and then return one final time today at 10:00 p.m. Eastern time for our bedtime post. 🙂
