I’ve finished all of the dresses & underpinnings for the rather sizable wardrobe that comes with my latest Izannah Walker reproduction doll! She may still get an apron if I’m not totally worn out after spending tomorrow being a grandmother

Please Read ~ I’ve always tried to keep buying my dolls as straightforward and easy as possible. I started out 13 years ago simply saying that the first person to email me and request the doll would be its new owner. Simple and right to the point… What could go wrong? LOL ~ As I found out quite a few things could! There have been a few “hiccups” along the way… So in order to be courteous to other buyers and to keep everything polite, simple, and easy please read and follow these directions. They will allow me to mark the dolls that sell “sold” as quickly as possible, collect the buyer’s payment and shipping information right away, and just generally get each doll on his or her way to their new home as quickly as possible. Plus it will also let everyone else know exactly what dolls are still looking for their new homes. Thank you!

Lizzybit ~ SOLD
Lizzybit is 17 inches tall. She is dressed in the style of a mid-19th century child. Her dress is made of antique fabric and with an extra full skirt. Underneath she wears split pantalettes, a chemise and a petticoat. Her second skin is made from antique white glazed cotton, which is old store stock that had never been used. Her painted black boots have a blue band around their tops. She has a row of painted ringlets at the nape of her neck ❤

Her dress is made of antique fabric and with an extra full skirt. Underneath she wears split pantalettes, a chemise and a petticoat. Her second skin is made from antique white glazed cotton, which is old store stock that had never been used. Izzybelle has a row of soft little ringlets painted at the back of her neck ❤

Both of this evening’s dolls have a special alphabet body covering or “second skin”. It seemed appropriate for autumn and the beginning of the school year. I’ve always been charmed by these illustrated letter prints, which are most commonly seen on antique china dolls. This fabric print is also some times known as an “educational print”, and if you search for them you will find quite a few different ones on the bodies of a variety of antique dolls.
DOLL A. Isane $1595.00 SOLD
This Isane is approximately 18 inches tall. She comes fully dressed in a handmade chemise, pantalettes, petticoat and dress. Her brown print dress has extra fullness in the skirt and two graduated growth tucks. The sleeves of the dress are also tucked. All fabrics, lace and buttons are antique. PLEASE NOTE I am offering this doll for sale now, but it will take approximately a week to ten days for her to ship. Perhaps you noticed that she has two left arms! Sadly this is not the first time this has happened to me. When I started sewing her together I made the startling discovery that she didn’t have a right arm! lol So I am going to have to make her one and multiple coats of paint are going to have to dry before I can ship her.

Made of antique fabrics in a classic mid-19th century child’s style, this party dress features extra fabric, a growth tuck, and contrasting fabric bands. It will fit my 18 – 19 inch reproduction Izannah Walker dolls as well as antique Izannah Walker dolls of the same size. The neck band is 12.5 inches, finished waist is 8.5 inches and the skirt length is 8.25 inches.

Monday’s offerings will include two versions of Isabeau, one time worn and well loved ~ with the original paint surface of my antique Isabeau, the other a more pristine version of Isabeau which represents her as she was in her youth. I very rarely make the more perfect Isabeaus, so if you have been longing for one this may be your chance. The third doll I will be selling is something new! A tiny black version of Izzybelle, which is something new that I haven’t ever made before! All three of these dolls are in the 14 – 18.5 inch price group. Some of them will have additional clothing features/accessory garments, which will make their prices higher than the base price.
How to buy a doll ~ My dolls are sold on a first come basis, meaning that the first person who asks to purchase the doll via email to paula@asweetremembrance.com gets the doll. I go by the time stamp when your email arrives in my gmail inbox. Please do NOT send purchase requests via messenger, text or phone. Once the dolls are posted for sale I ONLY MONITER EMAIL.
Once I confirm that you are the first person to ask for the doll you will have the option of paying via Paypal ( I will need the email address associated with your Paypal account. I will invoice you, with payment due upon receipt of the invoice.) Your second option is to mail me a check. I will email you when your check arrives here and ship your doll after your check has cleared.

Sunday, Saint Nicholas Eve
Dear Diary,
Today, once again, holiday preparations have been underway in the doll’s house. I can hear all of the sweet Izannah sisters chattering gaily, rushing around their house preparing everything just so on this 5th day of December. The dolls are clearly just as excited about this Christmas as they were about each of their very first ones, now more than a century and a half ago… This afternoon they cleaned and tidied their kitchen, adding boxwood sprigs to the mantle over the hearth. As dusk began to fall, they lit two candles on their Advent wreath, which they made using clippings from the garden and a great deal of madder dyed ribbon. Afterwards they carefully lined up their shoes by the fireplace so that Saint Nicholas could fill them with treats when he comes to call in the middle of the night…
Meanwhile, as the dolls have been keeping themselves well occupied, I have been steadily working away. Yesterday I painted deeper shades of color on the six new little doll sisters that I am slowly bringing to life. The poor dears are now in their “ugly duckling” phase, where I fear only a mother could love them. So gawky and awkward looking, with their inner beauty hidden away by translucent coats of streaky, uneven looking paint! It is a time for courage, and faith that everything will be alright in the end.
After all six were painted, I very quietly tip-toed out the door (so that I wouldn’t wake the napping little cloth girls) and walked through the farmyard to the sewing studio. I spent all the rest of Saturday sewing arm, after arm, after arm!
Today I was back to painting, and am happy to say that all of the new dolls are looking somewhat better with the addition of another coat of paint! They still need many more very then coats of their “flesh” tones before I will be able to start painting their features and hair, but such care is well worth the time involved.
I dared not step away from the doll’s house today, as I knew the sisters would be lighting candles! I hope to be able to trim and turn all of the many arms this evening, and perhaps I will even be able to stay awake long enough to begin stuffing and stitching a few fingers! Though I should try not to stay up too late, as the dolls will no doubt be up exceedingly early in the morning to see what Saint Nicholas has left them!

The little cloth girls were very busy today. In a flurry of Christmas spirit they went up to the attic of their very tall house, unpacked all of their Christmas decorations, and carried them down to the parlor! A great deal of extremely animated conversation was shouted back and forth throughout the doll’s house. Christmas is definitely on it’s way!
… and where was the dollmaker you ask, while all of this frenzied activity was taking place in the doll’s house? I was very quietly and contentedly working away in a corner of the studio, creating new dolls especially for the holidays! Making dolls for Christmas always brings it’s own special kind of magic. There is an element of the time tested tradition of creating handmade presents for loved ones, the hope of making someone’s Christmas dreams come true, and the fun of getting to be a part of “Santa’s Workshop”.

This particular Charlotte is a very special custom order doll. She is just about to leave the studios for her new home. This afternoon she posed for a few photos for the family album. I hope you enjoy meeting her ❤
