Yankee Magazine Article

There is a very nice two-page article on Izannah Walker dolls in the current  (November/December 2009) issue of Yankee magazine, written by Catherine Riedel of Skinner’s Auctioneers.  Thank you Catherine for referring readers to this blog for additional information about Izannah Walker dolls.

If you happen to see a copy of the magazine for sale it is certainly worth purchasing.  As an added bonus the magazine contains some interesting recipes for using up your Thanksgiving leftovers

  1. Hi Paula –
I’m writing from the Old Colony Historical Society in Taunton, MA. We too very much liked the article and wanted to let you (and others) know that at our museum, we also have an Izannah Walker doll on display. She is a favorite at our museum with visitors of all ages.

    • I’m always pleased to let people know about the treasures that can be found in historical society museums ( and I’m not just saying that because I’m the Director and Curator of a historical society museum myself 🙂 )

I’m not at all surprised that your Izannah Walker doll is a favorite. The entire toy room at the New Milford Historical Society, where I work, enchants most of our visitors.

Thank you very much for taking the time to mention that you have one of Izannah’s dolls on display. What are the hours and days that you are open for tours?

  2. I agree, visitors do enjoy seeing her and hearing the story of an enterprising woman and the wonderful dolls she created. Old Colony Historical Society is open Tuesday – Saturday, 10am to 4pm. We have several gallery spaces and a changing exhibit hall, and invite folks to come and take a look. I’d love to share “Izzy” (our nickname for our doll) with visitors!
