Happy All Hallows Eve

“The Only Ghost I Ever Saw” by Emily Dickinson
His conversation – seldom –
His laughter, like the Breeze –
That dies away in Dimples
Among the pensive trees –

Happy May Day!
Happy Easter!
Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Eliza Jane and Hannah wish you a very happy St. Patrick’s Day! This morning, to celebrate, Hannah baked Irish Soda Bread for breakfast, which made all her sisters quite happy indeed ❤
Hannah’s favorite recipe comes from The Society for the Preservation of Irish Soda Bread. She prefers the recipe for White Soda Bread. She did stray from tradition and add raisins, which would actually make her bread “spotted dog”. Hannah is quite fond of both raisins and dogs… ❤
A Red Letter Day ~Two Red Dresses Available
Red! ❤ Such a wonderful color and such a challenge for me to find when I am searching for antique fabrics! I’ve had a small quantity of floral striped red fabric stashed away for several years. I had been planning to make dresses from it for my antique Izannah Walker dolls… When I was contemplating Valentine’s Day and trying to think of something a tiny bit special to mark the day, I decided instead that I should use that fabric for a very tiny little Valentine’s Day Pop-Up Dress Shop!
Zanna and Isabeau offered to be today’s models. ❤ I had just enough fabric to make three dresses, these two matching long sleeved dresses, with a single growth tuck in each skirt, and a third make-do dress with short sleeves and a “false hem” of coordinating off-white and red fabric.

1. & 2. – ONE DRESS IS SOLD – ONE AVAILABLE The two matching long sleeved dresses are finished and available for sale. They have 7 inch long skirts, so they are perfect if you’d like a shorter skirt for an 18 – 19 inch doll dressed as a younger child, or if you have slightly smaller doll made from my Anna mold. These dresses are too large for any of my Izzybelles. $225.00 each, which includes free shipping to any US address. There is no sales tax unless you are a Connecticut resident (6.35%). Please email me at paula@asweetremembrance.com if you wish to purchase dresses 1 and/or 2. Sold on a first come basis. Payment by Paypal, credit card, personal check, or lay-away.

3. – Dress three is not quite done… today has been a wild winter’s day. My best made plans were torn asunder by icy weather and a dead car battery, so I have been ferrying my near and dear ones back and forth to schools for most of the day. ❤ I’ll post the third dress just as soon as I put in the final stitches, so please check back! Dress 3 will be the same as dresses 1 & 2, except it will have short gathered and banded sleeves, no growth tuck and a “false hem” with a different off-white and red print antique fabric used for the hem on the inside of the skirt. It will also be priced at $225.00.

When what to my wondering eyes should appear…

Wishing you a magical Christmas, filled with peace, love and good will ❤
Happy Easter!

Do you remember this photo from my Easter 2009 post? Nine years feel like they have flown by and the dolls and I are once again wishing you a very Happy Easter!
I’ve just finished posting directions for making dyed silhouette eggs, like the one Isabeau is holding in this photo, on another one of my blogs, Paula Walton’s 18th Century Home Journal. If you’d like to know how to make these sweet nostalgic eggs click on this link: https://paulawalton.wordpress.com/2018/04/01/happy-easter-crafting-silhouette-eggs/
Mistress Walton’s Valentine Pop-Up Shoppe

It has been a cold, snowy, ice covered week here in our sleepy little Connecticut home. Even a commute that is measured in yards, rather than miles, has been treacherous. So rather than working in either of my studios, the dolls and I have been sitting in front of the fire cutting silhouettes. ❤

Last evening we finally finished hand graining all the frames, mounting the silhouettes and framing them. Now that they are completed we are all ready to open our Valentine Pop-Up Shoppe ❤
MISTRESS WALTON’S VALENTINE POP-UP SHOPPE
Most of our various offerings are one of a kind. You’ll notice that several of them are similar, but have different details, varying frames, etc… Each item offered for sale has an item number and price. Free priority mail shipping is included to all U.S. addresses. Exact postage – no handling fees – are charged to foreign addresses. Connecticut residents will be charged 6.35 % sales tax. Payment may be made via Paypal, personal check or lay-away. All items sold on a first come basis. You may email me at paula@asweetremembrance.com with questions or to claim an item. If more than one person wishes to buy a particular item, I will go by the time stamp when your email is received to determine the 1st request.
A note about the photos, because of the glass there are some reflections in the photos. I also had a problem with static electricity and dust. I dusted, and dusted and dusted some more, but every time I looked again there were little dust particles on the outside of the glass… Needless to say, all of the silhouettes look so much nicer in person :).

Oh Dear! Oh Dear! I’m Late, I’m Late, I’m Late!; Or Why There Isn’t Going to be a Third Thursday Sale in January…

Good heavens! Only 13 days into the new year and already I’m behind!!! With the third Thursday of the month fast approaching on the 18th, I’ve made an executive decision to dispense with my normal “Third Thursday” release of new dolls and/or clothing in January. The glorious thing about being the CEO, and the entire workforce, of my own little domain is that all arguments for or against policy changes are strictly in my own head… so much quieter that way. 🙂
Actually I am incredibly blessed! I just finished writing another article for Antique Doll Collector magazine on New Year’s Day. At the moment I am currently working on the wardrobes for two dolls that are very anxious to begin their travels to their new homes, plus I have a stack of orders for paper cuttings, patterns, doll kits with custom painted heads, spun cotton ornaments, and more… ❤ What artisan wouldn’t be thrilled to have people buying their wares? ❤
So no “Third Thursday” this month… but who knows… perhaps there will be a special “Pop-Up” Valentine event… ❤
