Update, Charlcie has found her new home just in time for Christmas!

My first copy of the new Prims Winter 2013 issue arrived yesterday.  Charlcie and Savannah couldn’t wait to open it and read all about themselves!  The magazine is scheduled to be in stores on January 1st.  Susie Belle has already moved to her new home in Virginia.  Savannah is sold and on lay-away, so I get the pleasure of her company for a bit longer.  Charlcie is very happy that her sisters have such wonderful new homes and hopes that she will find one of her own very soon!

  1. Paula – those pictures are so cute!!! Can’t wait to see the Prims magazine! So happy all three sisters found a home! All three dolls are just beautiful and your pictures make them come to life!

  2. Thank you Susie! Charlcie was beginning to feel a bit jealous that Susie Belle and Savannah had new homes and she didn’t 🙂 Savannah is immigrating to Canada to live at Charlotte’s house! Charlcie is leaving tomorrow for a small town in New York state.

It was fun to get my editorial copy of Prims on Friday. I’m still waiting for my wholesale copies to be delivered. I’ll send one to Susie Belle just as soon as I get them. I don’t want her to feel left out 🙂

    1. I should have posted here that I am Charlcies new mom. She arrived the day after Christmas just our snow storm began.
This evening I started making up a crochet pattern for slippers to keep her feet warm till her shoes and socks arrive. I don’t have a camera so I’m unable to put a picture up of what the slippers will look like. But I’m designed these slippers before for Sasha and Bleuette. The yarn I chose is a very pale pink 100% wool.

I love my Charlcie very much and I’m so glad I was able to get a Izzy form Paula. She is my very first Izzy and also the very first one I’ve ever seen.

Hope you all and your girls have a very Happy and Healthy New Year.

PS. Charlcie wishes her sisters Susie Belle & Savannah Happy New Year too and she’s happy in her forever home.

  3. Hi Paula,
Wishing you and your family a very Happy New Year.

Love the article in Prims, it is going in Charlcies trunk.

The slippers are done, it took quite a few ripping outs before I got each slipper just right then the final adjustment in fitting when the basic slipper was done. They look so cute and Charlcie loves how the keep her feet warm.

Next project might be a coat to go with her brown dress. I also found a cotton blouse of mine that would be just perfect for a dress it’s a blue print.
My mind is spinning with projects for her.

    Have a good day.

    1. Suzanne,

Charlcie is a very luck doll! Brand new slippers, plus plans for a new coat and dress. She couldn’t have asked for a better home 🙂

I’m so glad that you liked the article. It was a story that had been bouncing around in my mind for quite a while. Originally it was much longer, but with an 800 word limit – that had to include doll making information and tips, I was forced to shorten the length and do quite a bit of editing. I hope the essence of a 19th century children’s story book still came through.

I’ve been in the studio all morning. It’s been a very productive day so far. I hope your projects for Charlcie are going just as well.

  4. Hi Paula,
Remember when I ordered Charlcie that I told you she was going to be my birthday gift. When I told my husband about what he bought me for my birthday he thought it was a great idea because he didn’t know what to get me. I had mentioned to him that she was a Izannah Walker Reproduction and I had found the perfect artist and she just happened to have one doll available. Needless to say when she arrived Steve loved her too.

Well, yesterday Charclie and I celebrated my birthday and I told her she was very special and that I’ll always think of her as my birthday girl.

So, thanks for my birthday gift and the story behind her.
    Suzanne

    1. Suzanne,

You are so very welcome. I’m glad that I could do my part to make it a special birthday for you!

I live in a household full of men, so I know only too well how they can get stumped when it comes to birthday presents 🙂

With my Warmest Belated Birthday Wishes!
      Paula

  5. I have always loved the dolls you make and their clothing is so authentic. One day I hope to buy a large African American made in the Izannah Walker style. That will mean months of saving.

    1. Thank you Betty! To date I have never made any of my African American dolls larger than 18 inches. If you aren’t already on my “New Dolls” email list, you might want to sign-up for it. I send out a very brief notice to list members whenever I post dolls for sale 🙂 If you’d like me to add you to the list you can send your email address to me at paula@asweetremembrance.com.
