Jennie’s Doll – Part One

I just finished making this doll and her wardrobe for Jennie.  I haven’t quite adjusted to standard time yet. 🙂  I usually work until pretty late in the day, and don’t leave my studio until 6:15 or 6:30 each evening.  All through the summer I’ve been able to take photographs at the end of the day, but no more.  Now that we are well into autumn and daylight saving time is no more, the moon is well up before I dash between the studio and the kitchen door!  I had to resort to taking these photos inside the studio with a flash this evening.  Tomorrow I will take more in natural light.  Needless to say, she looks so much prettier in person!

  1. Paula, I am happily awaiting the arrival home of this very sweet and alert young lady. Her features are just what I wanted for an Izannah Walker doll, and she has just the best wardrobe! I am astounded at how well the dresses and bonnet turned out, and so pleased that she has the morning dress prototype. She will be well set for her trip west in the brown slat-style sunbonnet. With both your antique fabric selections and your skills as a seamstress, I can’t imagine anything better–except more dresses that I can create with your pattern! Thank you!

Billie, thank you for your compliment for a lovely doll who is coming to live with me. I recently met someone who new an antique doll who had come to live with me a while ago. It is heartwarming to know that we have community through the dolls. I do hope that you have some sweet ones at your home too.

    Truly, Jennie

    1. Jennie,
I am so happy that she has turned out to be just as you were envisioning her to be! You have been a joy to work with. You chose such wonderful fabrics and styles for her. They all work together really well. I am looking forward to seeing photos of her on your blog, Quintessential Antique Dolls – http://quintessentialantiquedolls.wordpress.com/author/quintessential11/ – when she arrives home. I know she will love meeting all of your other dolls and having long interesting chats with them!
      Fondly,
      Paula
