This is one of my favorite weeks of the year! I’m reveling in an abundance of Izannah filled delights 🙂 Not only am I in the midst of playing with all my dolls, as we prepare to celebrate Izannah Walker’s 197th birthday on Thursday, but this past Saturday was the September meeting of my doll club. I love my doll club and all of the interesting and amazing women who are part of it. On Saturday I had the chance to return two antique Izannahs I have been restoring to their owner and also got a chance to see the newest Izannah that she has added to her collection! What a treat!!! I snapped a few photos to share with all of you other Izannahphiles. This little Izannah (she’s 16 inches) was so much cuter in person than she was in her official auction photographs, and of course much sweeter than she appears in my quick spur of the moment pix too! I also learned that one of the other members in my club is related to Izannah Walker. What a week so far!

Hi Paula,
Oh wow, I so love the Izannah in this post – so glad you got to see her – I loved her auction photos and wondered who the lucky new owner was. I think she is just such a sweet one!!!!!!!! One of my favorites. Thanks for sharing! Susie
Susie,
She is such a wonderful doll and she’s got a great new home with two other Izannahs to welcome her into the family. I couldn’t resist taking a few photos 🙂 I wish you could have seen her in person.
Love,
Paula
Hi Paula, this little dolly is precious. Does she have a name yet? When you met her did you give her a hello hug and kiss? I know the new owner must be full of gratitude to be able to own her. Just think how much happiness and knowledge Izannah Walker has given all of us thru the years. I too will be enjoying her birthday tomorrow with my two Izannah’s. They want to go out in the apple orchard now that we have gotten a big frost, they know the apples are ready. Just their way of letting me know it’s time for apple pie and making their favorite applesauce.
My girls are so spoiled that they don’t want store bought applesauce so they’ll probably will get their way again. I’ll be looking forward to the big party. I was thinking about something. In 3 years Izannah would be having her 200th birthday. That should be a big celebration. Wouldn’t it be nice to do another Civil War friendship doll quilt exchange? I’ll be glad to host it for you again, since Izannah herself lived during those years it would tie right in. See you in October at the Jenny Lind Doll Show. Fondly, Mary Goddard.
Hi Mary,
We haven’t gotten frost yet this fall, but we did have a late frost that kept my apple trees from blooming, so only a handful of apple for me this year. Fortunately we have some terrific orchards near by 🙂 I hope you and your Izanahs have a lovely day picking apples!
I’ve been thinking ahead to Izannah’s 200th birthday too and I absolutely agree that it should be a huge celebration! Another quilt exchange would be lovely and I would be thrilled if you would be willing to head that up 🙂
Until next month!
Paula
