SOLD I’d Like to Introduce You to my Latest Reproduction of Tilly Lamb, who is Currently Available for Sale…

Thank you for coming to meet my newest reproduction of my antique Izannah Walker doll Tillie Lamb.

TILLY LAMB ~ $2445 SOLD. Tilly Lamb has a somewhat unique body with larger, plumper arms and painted boots that are fashioned differently than other Izannah Walker dolls. I’ve really only seen these features on the one other doll that I know of that is made like Tillie Lamb. I truly love the endearing slightly bolder folk art quality that this gives her She is 20 inches tall, from the back of her heels to the top of her head. Her toes point downward another 2 inches.

CLOTHING

I’ve chosen some amazing fabrics for this very special doll. Her dark brown figured dress is made from a sheer madder dyed cotton with a window pane check weave. This fabric came from a remanent of a c. 1860’s skirt that I am sure must have had a matching bodice. Even though someone had previously cut into the garment, I could tell that it had once been a very wide full skirt, tightly gathered at the waist and meant to be worn over layers of petticoats and a caged crinoline (which people now often refer to as a hooped skirt). I fashioned this lovely fabric into a very classic mid 19th century girl’s dress, with very full banded sleeves and a generously full skirt. Next I paired this fantastic madder fabric dress, with a fugitive purple print fabric for her that the sun has turned into a matching shade. The apron I made from this fugitive purple is a copy of the apron that my antique Tillie Lamb often wears. The original apron is one I found in Brimfield many years ago.

Because every girl needs more that one dress, Tilly has a second dress made from a vintage brown gingham check, with short straight, tucked sleeves. Did you know that gingham was original made in Asia, possibly Malaysia, and first appeared in England during the 17th century, when it was introduced by Dutch traders? Originally it began as more of a striped fabric, before becoming the classic woven checks that we are more familiar with.

Tilly’s second skin body covering is a coffee brown glazed cotton that coordinates perfectly with her madder dyed dress and fugitive purple apron. I made her chemise, split pantalettes, and petticoat from antique cotton sheeting and lace.

ACCESSORIES

Around her neck Tilly wears a necklace that I made from vintage bone beads. She has a heart shaped pincushion, made of another wonderful piece of mid 19th century fabric, suspended from a woven brown gingham ribbon. Instructions for this type of pincushion appeared in Eliza Leslie’s book The American Girl’s Book; or Occupation For Play Hours first published in 1831. https://paulawalton.wordpress.com/2011/02/09/two-heart-pincushions-from-the-american-girls-book/

Additionally Tilly comes with a length of fabric tape measure, like the one my original Tilly Lamb often carries in her apron pocket.

This Tilly Lamb reproduction Izannah Walker doll is $2445.00 SOLD

Tilly is a wonderful size to display in antique children’s chairs. Here she is in one of my antique highchairs. Note ~ Her newly painted face does appear a bit glossy in some lights, but as the paint continues to dry and oxidize the sheen will lessen and go away.

Izannah Walker’s 205th Birthday Celebration Part 2 ~ New Dolls Available for Sale

It is my pleasure to introduce you to my two latest dolls, reproductions of Isane & Isabeau. Both made from handmade molds of my original antique Izannah Walker dolls.

It is my pleasure this evening to introduce you to two charming young Izannah sisters who are looking to venture out beyond the confines of the very tall house & find loving new homes of their very own. In addition to offering these sweet cloth girls for sale I also have one party dress for sale. ❤

How to buy any of the items for sale tonight ~ this is the IMPORTANT part, so please read this!

I try to keep buying my dolls as straight forward and easy as possible. In order to do that please read and follow these directions. All of my dolls are sold on a “first come” basis. I’ve added it so that purchase requests only will show up in the inbox. Be aware of how much the doll costs BEFORE you send your request to buy. Both of this evening’s dolls have a special alphabet body covering or “second skin”. It seemed appropriate for autumn and the beginning of the school year. I’ve always been charmed by these illustrated letter prints, which are most commonly seen on antique china dolls. This fabric print is also some times known as an “educational print”, and if you search for them you will find quite a few different ones on the bodies of a variety of antique dolls.

DOLL A. Isane $1595.00 SOLD

Doll A Isane

This Isane is approximately 18 inches tall. She comes fully dressed in a handmade chemise, pantalettes, petticoat and dress. Her brown print dress has extra fullness in the skirt and two graduated growth tucks. The sleeves of the dress are also tucked. All fabrics, lace and buttons are antique. PLEASE NOTE I am offering this doll for sale now, but it will take approximately a week to ten days for her to ship. Perhaps you noticed that she has two left arms! Sadly this is not the first time this has happened to me. When I started sewing her together I made the startling discovery that she didn’t have a right arm! lol So I am going to have to make her one and multiple coats of paint are going to have to dry before I can ship her.

The Twins Welcome March ~ SOLD

IMG_9508 (2)The March wind roars
Like a lion in the sky,
And makes us shiver
As he passes by.

When winds are soft,
And the days are warm and clear,
Just like a gentle lamb,
Then spring is here.

The first day of March and the boys have taken over the parlor… March is blowing in on cold winds, which has kept the twins indoors. So they have spent the day making a secret stronghold out of two chairs and a quilt, constructing a kite to fly just as soon as the winds turn warm, and working on a puzzle. Meanwhile the cats are staying warm and toasty near the wood stove… It’s been a cozy, dreamy beginning to the new month. ❤

SOLD Both boys are available for sale, seperately or together, for $1250.00 apiece. The twins are dressed in chemises, short sleeved dresses, with split skirts and black braid trim, over matching pantaloons. Their painted boots are the same dark green as the original doll their mold was taken from. They are being sold on a first come basis. The price of the dolls includes free shipping to any United States address. International shipping is exact postage plus a $10 handling fee to help offset the additional time required for customs forms. Checks, credit cards, Paypal accepted. Valentine Pop-Up Shop February 8, 2020

IMG_9145 (2)

The dolls and I have been busily snipping paper to make a few special love tokens for Valentine’s Day! Most were inspired by hand drawn 19th century paper dolls. I’ve always found little pencil  or ink drawn antique paper dolls to be quite endearing ❤ Tiny cut out drawings, made to amuse a child, treasured and saved… precious bits of ephemera.

Reproduction Izannah Walker Dolls – ISABEAU NOW SOLD / ANDREW NOW SOLD

This is such a sweet group of dolls. The twins are the first dolls for sale from a brand new mold and Isabeau and Andrew are made from two of my all time favorite molds. All of these dolls have very colorful second skins. Isabeau’s in a deep raspberry pink and the boys all have a deep garnet red. Both fabrics are antique glazed cottons ❤

I don’t make all that many boy dolls, so these are a rarity. There is something just so sweet about little boys… though I may be prejudiced, as I am the mother of three boys… Every doll family needs a brother or two in amongst all the girls ❤

Andrew – $1250. SOLDIMG_8131 (2).JPG

SOLD Andrew is a 17 inch tall boy doll made from my mold of Anna. He is dressed in antique red plaid with black cotton tape trim and has black painted boots with red tops in the iconic Izannah Walker boy style. Under his plaid dress he is wearing a chemise, short pantalettes, and a petticoat.

Twin Boys – $2500IMG_8122 (2).JPG

The twins are made from a new mold and are the first dolls from this mold that I am offering for sale ❤ They are 18.5 inchs tall and are also dressed in red plaid dresses with black cotton tape trim. They have dark green painted boots, which is very rare and the original color of the boots on the antique doll they modeled after. They have chemises and also come with matching plaid pantaloons. I was contemplating making them a pair of winter dresses and matching pantaloons from an off-white antique fabric printed with black and red riding crops and horse shoes. If their new mom is interested in a 2nd set of clothing for them, the additional cost would be $500, and bring their total price up to $3000.

Isabeau – $1250 SOLDIMG_8167 (2)

SOLD Isabeau is 18 inches tall and has the worn, aged paint surface of the original antique Izannah Walker doll that her mold was made from. She has black painted boots with red stripes around the tops, and is wearing a chemise, pantalettes, a petticoat and a long sleeved dress made from antique brown fabric.

You Are Cordially Invited to My Annual Online Izannah Walker Birthday Celebration September 25th – October 1st, 2019

Happy 202nd Birthday Izannah Walker!
Please come help us celebrate Izannah Walker’s 202nd birthday, September 25th – October 1st, here on http://www.izannahwalker.com

I’ve been working away here in my studios, preparing for one of my favorite times of the year, my annual Izannah Walker birthday celebration. It is always a special event here in the doll’s house, as the dolls and I make time to simply play and enjoy the very special dolls that Izannah Walker created.

My Izannah birthday celebration changes a bit from year to year, but always features my collection of antique Izannah Walker dolls, plus some of the dolls I reproduce from her originals.

This year there will be a bit of make believe, a scoop of education, a cupful of beautiful photos, and a pound of fun, all stirred up with a pinch of magic! … oh yes, and cake, lots and lots of cake! ❤  Introductions to some of the new dolls I’m making, just for this celebration, will also be sprinkled in throughout the week, just like decorations on top of a birthday cake ❤

So please come visit everyday next week as the dolls and I share our birthday party with you!

SOLD! Two More Dolls From my Charlcie Mold will be available on 6/20/19 @ Noon Eastern Time – The Very First Reproduction of Charlcie Is SOLD

IMG_2761 (2)SOLD This is my very first reproduction of Charlcie. The original doll is one that I purchased for my own collection, and is only an Izannah Walker head on a c.1900 baby doll cloth body, so I will be making her a new reproduction body. The antique Izannah Walker doll is named Charlcie, after my great-grandmother, Charlcie Savannah Suzybelle Walker.
This Charlcie is 23 inches tall. Her body is made of new 100% cotton, stuffed with organic cotton stuffing. Her head is pressed cloth and is made of silk stockinette, which has been painted with multiple layers of artist’s oils, as have her arms and legs. Her “second skin” body covering is made from antique raspberry pink glazed cotton. She is dressed entirely in antique fabrics, laces, and buttons. Her clothing includes a chemise, split pantelettes, a petticoat and a dress. The dress is made from an antique “double pink” print cotton. I drafted the pattern for the dress from an antique doll’s dress that I own, which supposedly belonged to an Izannah Walker doll at one time. The skirt of the dress has hand sewn cartridge pleating (at the top instead of gathers) just like to original dress. It took me approximately 115 hours (of actual working time) to create the doll and clothing. I made her using the same methods and same materials (with just one or two exceptions where the materials are no longer available and I’ve had to use modern equivalents) that Izannah Walker used to make the original dolls.
The little travel doll is strictly something extra that I made for this very first reproduction of Charlcie! I don’t sell the tiny dolls finished, but I do sell the pre-printed fabric for the tiny doll body  if you click here: https://asweetremembrance.com/category/cut-stitch-fabric-doll-panels/.

February’s Last Hurrah! Both Little Sisters Are Sold… Thank you!

2 dolls available February 2019
This month’s offerings… Lizzybit on the left and Izzybelle on the right. Plus a long sleeved red dress sized to fit one of the girls larger 18-19 inch sisters.

For February’s (snow delayed) Third Thursday I have two one small little Izzy’s who are looking for loving homes ❤ The larger doll is made from my mold of the antique Lizzybit. She is 16 inches tall. Her smaller companion is 14.5 inch tall Izzybelle.

This month’s theme is little sisters, with a focus on paint surface details. Both of these dolls present an aged appearance, like that of original surviving antique Izannah Walker dolls. Some of you, who follow my Izannah Walker Journal, will be familar with the original, highly adventuresome Izzybelle. You’ll know that she has gone through some rough times and has been greatly loved during her long lifetime. For this particular younger sister of Izzybelle I have removed some of the original doll’s worst damage, leaving you this glimpse of how pretty and sweet the original doll must have been in her youth. ❤

The fabric for the doll’s dresses is a wonderful previously unused mid-19th century dot print. The color is reminiscent of sunny summer marigolds, ripe autumn pumpkins, and the golden hues of seashells on a windswept beach…

The dolls and extra dress are offered for sale on a first come basis. The way it works is simple. If you would like to purchase one of the dolls, or the dress, email me at paula@asweetremembrance.com. I’ll go by the time stamp when I receive your email to determine whose request is first.
