As I sat down this afternoon to answer some inquiries from kind correspondents who are asking about my dolls, it occured to me that perhaps others of you may have similar questions about buying one of my reproductions of Izannah Walker’s beloved pressed cloth dolls.
This is my open reply to all who may be interested…
Dear Reader,
I would be very happy to place you on my “new dolls” email mailing list if you will send your email address to paula@asweetremembrance.com. When you are on the list you will receive an email whenever I post a doll for sale.
At the moment I have more custom orders than I can juggle, so I’m not taking any custom orders until I clear away some of my backlog, which is going to take me quite some time.
However, I do continue to make other non-custom reproduction Izannah Walker dolls and post them for open sales. I think the very best way to buy a doll is when you see one that calls to you and tugs on your heart strings, so I do think it is very important to have finished dolls for sale that people can see and fall in love with.
I’ll add you to the email mailing list right away. Don’t be at all surprised if you do not get an email notice immediately. The dolls each take an extremely long time to make, just as they always did when Izannah was making them… I work more or less constantly on them, but it still feels as if each doll takes “forever”. I should probably also mention that once I post a doll or dolls for sale they usually sell very, very quickly. Thank you so much for your interest in my work. It is greatly appreciated.
post script ~ I do have a “Wish List, that helps me decide which dolls to make for open sales… If you have a particular doll or other item that you would purchase if it were available, please leave a comment to add it to the wish list https://asweetremembrance.com/category/wish-list/ . I’ll take “wishes” into consideration when choosing which categories to open up first, when designing new items, and when making dolls for “open shopping” when I post newly made dolls for sale here on my Izannah Walker Journal.
A small Pop~Up Shop to celebrate the New Year! Tomorrow, January 1st, here on http://www.izannahwalker.com at 1:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time. I will be posting some of my newly completed reproduction Izannah Walker dolls and a handful of antique dolls too!
I hope you have been enjoying my Izannah Walker birthday week activities so far ❤ Today I thought I’d invite you all into my studio for a look at the dolls I am making for this year’s birthday party. All the little antique Izzies are very excited to see their newest brothers and sisters coming to life 🙂 They love showing off the “babies” in the family!
We looking forward to seeing you tomorrow as our Birthday Celebration continues here on http://www.izannahwalker.com September 25th ~ October 1st, 2019 ❤
Please come help us celebrate Izannah Walker’s 202nd birthday, September 25th – October 1st, here on http://www.izannahwalker.com
I’ve been working away here in my studios, preparing for one of my favorite times of the year, my annual Izannah Walker birthday celebration. It is always a special event here in the doll’s house, as the dolls and I make time to simply play and enjoy the very special dolls that Izannah Walker created.
My Izannah birthday celebration changes a bit from year to year, but always features my collection of antique Izannah Walker dolls, plus some of the dolls I reproduce from her originals.
This year there will be a bit of make believe, a scoop of education, a cupful of beautiful photos, and a pound of fun, all stirred up with a pinch of magic! … oh yes, and cake, lots and lots of cake! ❤ Introductions to some of the new dolls I’m making, just for this celebration, will also be sprinkled in throughout the week, just like decorations on top of a birthday cake ❤
So please come visit everyday next week as the dolls and I share our birthday party with you!
Good Afternoon and welcome to my (almost) monthly Third Thursday. I hope you enjoy seeing what I have finished and available for sale today!

Happy Third Thursday! This is my (almost) monthly introduction of new dolls, doll clothing and doll accessories ❤
Today my offerings include the third reproduction of Charlcie SOLD, a 23 inch reproduction Izannah Walker doll. she comes with a wonderful wardrobe. I also have two red and white dress for my 18 – 19 inch dolls, they would also work for Anna since she is a bit chubbier than the other smaller dolls.Plus something exciting! Limited edition greeting cards and badges, plus a larger cut & stitch Isabeau printed dolly.
Charlcie SOLD – $2200.
This is my third reproduction of Charlcie. The original doll is one that I purchased for my own collection, and is only an Izannah Walker head on a c.1900 baby doll cloth body, so I will be making her a new reproduction body. The antique Izannah Walker doll is named Charlcie, after my great-grandmother, Charlcie Savannah Suzybelle Walker.
This Charlcie is 23 inches tall. Her body is made of new 100% cotton, stuffed with organic cotton stuffing. Her head is pressed cloth and is made of silk stockinette, which has been painted with multiple layers of artist’s oils, as have her arms and legs. Her “second skin” body covering is made from antique raspberry pink glazed cotton. She is dressed entirely in antique fabrics, laces, and buttons. Her clothing includes a chemise, split pantelettes, a petticoat, two dresses, a nightgown and an apron. The pink dress is made from an antique woven check cotton. The skirt of the dress has hand sewn cartridge pleating (at the top instead of gathers). The blue dress is an antique indigo and white print cotton. Her nightgown is a re-purposed antique baby gown and her apron is made from two antique double pink fabrics. It took me approximately 140 hours (of actual working time) to create the doll and clothing. I made her using the same methods and same materials (with just one or two exceptions where the materials are no longer available and I’ve had to use modern equivalents) that Izannah Walker used to make the original dolls.
Charlcie is being offered for sale on a first come basis. The way it works is simple. If you would like to purchase her, please email me at paula@asweetremembrance.com. I’ll go by the time stamp when I receive your email to determine whose request is first.

Welcome to my December 2nd Pop Up Shop, with offerings themed especially for St. Nicholas Day! Many years ago, when my sons were quite young, we lived in Minnesota where my children’s nursery school and many of our neighbors celebrated St. Nicholas Day on December 6th. On the evening of December 5th the children would put their shoes by the front door and leave carrots in the shoes for St. Nicholas’ horse. In the morning they would discover that St. Nicholas had filled their shoes with small toys and treats. ❤ My boys always loved this early December celebration, which heralded in the Christmas season. It was one of my favorite things too… after all what could be better than a holiday celebration in which shoes play a major role? You can probably guess that means I am extremely partial to shoes, which I freely admit 🙂 Doll shoes, baby shoes, new shoes, old shoes… I love them all! So in honor of St. Nicholas Day, and shoes, I am offering the following items for sale.
Before and After… a decorating idea ❤ Antique Baby Shoes w/ handmade spun cotton carrots to leave out for St. Nicholas’ horse on the night of December 5th, displayed with antique toys, small treats and a spun cotton Santa to depict the items children find left in their shoes. Antique baby shoes and spun cotton carrots sold as a set. Spun Cotton Santa sold separately. All other items are for display purposes only and are not for sale.
It’s a busy day in the doll’s house, as the dolls decorate the parlor and set out their shoes for St. Nicholas. Down in the kitchen freshly baked gingerbread has been left to cool, before being made into into houses…. Drawn by the irresistible smell of their very favorite food, a trio of bears have come to call & made themselves at home.
Almost everything is one of a kind. If you are interested in purchasing an item, or items, please email me at p.walton.asweetremembrance@gmail.com. In the case of more than one person wishing to buy an item, it will go to the first email received. If for some reason the transaction isn’t completed then I will contact the 2nd person in line and ask if they would like to buy the item in question. Everything includes FREE PRIORITY MAIL through USPS to any Untied States address. International Orders will be charged exact postage + a $10.00 handling fee for all international locations, except Canada, to help off-set the time it takes me to deal with customs forms – and in many cases the requirement that I actually take the package to the post office rather than scheduling it for pick-up. Canadian orders will be charged exact postage.
Payment: Paypal – I will send you an invoice – please provide me with the email address you use for your Paypal account. Credit Cards – If you want to use a credit card, but would rather not go through Paypal, I will be happy to process your credit card. I will call you to get your credit card number, expiration date and security code. Please provide your telephone number. Personal Checks – Payable to Paula Walton and sent to 172 Aspetuck Ridge Road, New Milford, CT 06776-5611. Lay-away is also available to fit your budget. A deposit will be due now with equal monthly payments to follow.
Shipping ~ If you order before 6 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Sunday 12/2 and pay with Paypal, I will make sure that your order ships out on Monday morning! Depending on where you live, this may make it possible for your items to get to you by Wednesday, December 5th, just in time for St. Nicholas Day… fingers crossed! Although if you are like me, I keep my St. Nicholas themed decorations out until after Christmas.
❤
* A note about all of the spun cotton items * I hand spin loose cotton fibers in the traditional antique manner to create all of my spun cotton ornaments. Then I hand paint each one. The larger carrots are accented with antique rayon seam binding and the doll size carrots are topped with silk ribbons. Each bunch of carrots has a handwritten note to St. Nicholas ❤

I’ve made them crepe paper rosettes, but you could certainly remove the rosettes and add your own trimmings. These shoes close with white mother of pearl buttons, two of which are missing. If you would like replacement buttons, I can add two antique buttons, but I don’t have an exact match.

Z – $44.00 Unique Vintage Baby Bear. I’ve never seen a bear like this before. She wears a pink oil cloth bib and has a hinged metal mouth, with a hole that leads to her “tummy” which is accessed via a zipper in her back. I’m assuming that the idea is that a child could “feed’ her, then the “food” could be removed by unzipping her back. Sewn joints, considerable moth damage, but still very cute in a zoomy kind of way 🙂 To top everything off she is wearing pink shoes!
AA – $35.00 Happy, Hug-able, Vintage Mohair Bear w/Velvet Paw Pads. Cute fully jointed bear. Some moth damage and a loose neck joint which makes it possible for the head to crock to one side and nod, which is actually very charming. ❤
BB – $95.00 Handmade fully jointed bear, antique white mohair, rod jointed arms and legs, disk jointed neck, glass eyes. My own original design ❤
Thank you for coming to my December 2nd Pop-Up Shop ❤
Assistant shopkeepers Hannah and Isabeau have set up the shipping department on the kitchen table… The girls are very organized, they have boxes, packing materials, and a cart – all ready to load with parcels for a trip to the post office.
Josephine has been spending her time composing advertisements for the shoppe. “Mistress Walton begs leave to inform her Friends and the Public in general that she intends opening a Pop-Up Shoppe on Tuesday, the 13th inst. with a new and elegant assortment of paper cuttings, stitchery, and love tokens… Mistress Walton takes this opportunity of returning thanks for the great patronage she has already received from her numerous friends… ” Josephine is a devoted reader and she found great inspiration in Advertisements for January, Ackerman’s Repository, Vol. XI, 1814
It has been a cold, snowy, ice covered week here in our sleepy little Connecticut home. Even a commute that is measured in yards, rather than miles, has been treacherous. So rather than working in either of my studios, the dolls and I have been sitting in front of the fire cutting silhouettes. ❤
sketching the outlines for new silhouettes…
Last evening we finally finished hand graining all the frames, mounting the silhouettes and framing them. Now that they are completed we are all ready to open our Valentine Pop-Up Shoppe ❤
MISTRESS WALTON’S VALENTINE POP-UP SHOPPE
Most of our various offerings are one of a kind. You’ll notice that several of them are similar, but have different details, varying frames, etc… Each item offered for sale has an item number and price. Free priority mail shipping is included to all U.S. addresses. Exact postage – no handling fees – are charged to foreign addresses. Connecticut residents will be charged 6.35 % sales tax. Payment may be made via Paypal, personal check or lay-away. All items sold on a first come basis. You may email me at paula@asweetremembrance.com with questions or to claim an item. If more than one person wishes to buy a particular item, I will go by the time stamp when your email is received to determine the 1st request.
A note about the photos, because of the glass there are some reflections in the photos. I also had a problem with static electricity and dust. I dusted, and dusted and dusted some more, but every time I looked again there were little dust particles on the outside of the glass… Needless to say, all of the silhouettes look so much nicer in person :).
